An inspection by the Portuguese Authority for Working Conditions (Autoridade para as Condições do Trabalho – ACT) does not begin when an inspector arrives at the company or when a request for documentation is received. In reality, it begins much earlier—with the way the company manages its employment relationships, documents its decisions and ensures compliance with its legal obligations.
Companies that keep their employment documentation organised, up to date and aligned with their day-to-day operations are generally better prepared to respond to any labour inspection.
